The third in a suite of sound sketches inspired by beautiful locations. The image was taken on the site of the 1910 Pretoria Pit disaster. The Pretoria disaster was the 2nd highest loss of life in a UK pit with 344 men and boys lost. Fragments of old equipment, coal slag, and out buildings can be found buried and forgotten in the undergrowth.
This piece was constructed entirely from a short location recording from within a Basilica. Hyperstretching, convolution processing and manual microsamples cut off the zero-crossing point were performed to construct the piece.
